Merlis Belsher Place is a twin-pad ice arena and double gymnasium located at the University of Saskatchewan. It is comprised of a 90 ft. by 200 ft., 2,700-seat, spectator arena and one 300-seat community NHL sized arena, a double gymnasium, dressing and meeting rooms, concessions, fitness centre and sports medicine research area. This $43M facility houses the University varsity hockey, basketball, and soccer team’s offices (men’s and women’s) and is home venue to Huskies Hockey. Substantial completion is scheduled for early fall 2018.
Wright Construction and Nustadia (with aodbt Architects and A49 Architects) were successful in a design build operate proposal that incorporated a significant fund raising component as well as a guaranteed maximum development cost in order to assist the University in the capital requirement.
