The Municipality of Chatham-Kent Recreation Facility Study and Revised Development Scope, led by Nustadia Recreation Inc., originated as a comprehensive feasibility assessment under RFP R22-302 – Project Management & Development Services, evaluating long-term arena and recreation infrastructure needs across the municipality. The original study analyzed utilization, condition, and financial performance to guide future investment and rationalization of Chatham-Kent’s recreation network. Building on those findings, the project transitioned into the Imagine Chatham-Kent Development Initiative, focusing on the adaptive reuse of the former Sears building as a new Civic Centre, Library, and Museum hub. The revised scope redefined Nustadia’s role as Owner’s Representative, expanding services to include schematic and detailed concept design coordination, stakeholder engagement, and procurement strategy development. Supported by WSP Canada, Hanscomb Quantity Surveyors, and Architecttura, the updated plan establishes a clear pathway from feasibility to implementation, balancing fiscal responsibility, heritage preservation, and long-term community benefit.
