Peterborough Memorial Centre
The Peterborough Memorial Centre underwent a major renovation complete in 2003. Major components of the renovation included the creation of new modern concession areas, 24 luxury suites, club seating section, group sales viewing area, licensed restaurant, installation of air conditioning, new seats throughout, new rink boards, new sound system and time clock and an expanded and renovated Box Office. Also, the Peterborough and District Sports Hall of Fame located in the Memorial Centre was expanded. "Major components of the renovation included the creation of new modern concession areas, 24 luxury suites, club seating section, group sales viewing area, licensed restaurant, installation of air conditioning, new seats throughout, new rink boards, new sound system and time clock and an expanded and renovated Box Office."The Peterborough Memorial Centre has a total fixed seating capacity of 3,863 comprised of 948 Club seats, 2,209 general seating, 240 restaurant seating, 35 accessible seating, 114 seating in the sky boxes and 317 seating in the suites. An additional 1,000 seats can be place on the floor for concerts. The Peterborough Memorial Centre was built in 1956 and has served Peterborough very well as a major sports and entertainment facility while also being the home of the Peterborough Petes Hockey Club. The Centre is much more than a single pad arena to the Peterborough community. It is first and foremost a war Memorial that was constructed to honour the war veterans. Over the years it has hosted many championship hockey and lacrosse teams and has been used by various sport leagues, concert events and graduations. It has been a focal point for the community for several generations and for the Community at large. |
